Practical and Efficient: Our Cornerstone Implementation with talessio

The BAYERNOIL refin­ery pro­duces a wide range of refined prod­ucts from crude oil for its part­ner com­pa­nies, includ­ing liq­ue­fied gas­es, fuels, gaso­line, jet fuel, diesel, heat­ing oil, and bitu­men. At our two sites in Neustadt and Vohburg, we process around 10.3 mil­lion tons of min­er­al oil each year, using state-of-the-art tech­nol­o­gy, with the high­est lev­els of reli­a­bil­i­ty and under the strictest safe­ty stan­dards. As the largest refin­ery in Bavaria, BAYERNOIL is an impor­tant eco­nom­ic dri­ver and, with more than 850 employ­ees, one of the most sig­nif­i­cant employ­ers in the region.

The Initial Situation

The dig­i­tal­iza­tion of our HR process­es was a nec­es­sary step to future-proof the admin­is­tra­tion of employ­ee appraisals, tar­get agree­ments, and suc­ces­sion plan­ning. Train­ing man­age­ment and train­ing doc­u­men­ta­tion also need­ed to be mod­ern­ized. Although we had cho­sen Cor­ner­stone OnDe­mand as a pow­er­ful soft­ware solu­tion, we faced the chal­lenge of tai­lor­ing this high­ly com­plex sys­tem to our orga­ni­za­tion and inter­nal process­es in a mean­ing­ful way.

For the tech­ni­cal and func­tion­al imple­men­ta­tion, we chose talessio. A key fac­tor in the suc­cess of our col­lab­o­ra­tion was the excep­tion­al exper­tise of our part­ner. Smooth Progress Through the Configuration Phase

Any­one who has ever imple­ment­ed a suite like Cor­ner­stone knows how detailed and com­plex the con­fig­u­ra­tion can be. talessio sig­nif­i­cant­ly sim­pli­fied and accel­er­at­ed this process for us. Par­tic­u­lar­ly note­wor­thy were:

  • Fast response times: We nev­er had to wait long for answers when ques­tions or tech­ni­cal chal­lenges arose.
  • Solu­tion-ori­ent­ed approach: When a process could not be mapped direct­ly using stan­dard func­tion­al­i­ty, a prag­mat­ic solu­tion was found that works well in our dai­ly operations.
  • Con­sult­ing at eye lev­el: We were active­ly sup­port­ed in review­ing our exist­ing HR process­es and adapt­ing them where dig­i­tal­iza­tion made sense.

Administrator Training

An impor­tant require­ment for us was to avoid long-term depen­den­cy on exter­nal sup­port after the project launch. Thanks to tar­get­ed admin­is­tra­tor train­ing ses­sions, we now feel con­fi­dent using the sys­tem. We under­stand how the indi­vid­ual Cor­ner­stone func­tions inter­act and are able to make adjust­ments across dif­fer­ent mod­ules inde­pen­dent­ly. As a result, we are now able to train our own employ­ees, mod­i­fy con­fig­u­ra­tions autonomous­ly, and adapt process­es as needed.

Conclusion

With the sup­port of talessio, the imple­men­ta­tion of Cor­ner­stone OnDe­mand was far less chal­leng­ing than we ini­tial­ly expect­ed. Today, we are using a sys­tem that sig­nif­i­cant­ly relieves our tal­ent man­age­ment process­es and deliv­ers real added val­ue for our employees.
